Q: What is the Max OI & Order Cap tiering system?
A: The Max OI (Open Interest) & Order Cap tiering system is designed to place dynamic caps on the maximum open interest and order size on symbols under Categories 9 to 13 that a user can hold. These limits are based on the user’s account balance and trading activity.
Q: Which symbols are affected by this system?
A: The tiering system applies to symbols from Categories 4 to 13. These are symbols considered more prone to market manipulation due to their volatility or liquidity.
You may continue to trade on symbols from Categories 1 to 3 normally. Trading activities on these symbols are used to calculate your eligibility for a higher tier.
You can check the symbol categories under the Contracts Category page.
Q: How is my Order Tier determined?
A: Your tier is calculated based on your trading activity over the past 30 days, specifically:
- 30-day major symbol volume (total trading volume for symbols in Categories 1–3), and
- 30-day average account balance (in USDT).
| Tier | 30D Major Symbol Volume (USDT) | 30D Avg Balance (USDT) | Max Order Size Cap for Categories 4-13 | Max Open Interest Cap for Categories 4-13 |
| Tier 1 | 0 – 250,000 USDT | ≤ 5,000 USDT | 20% | 20% |
| Tier 2 | 250,000 – 500,000 USDT | 5,000 – 8,000 USDT | 30% | 30% |
| Tier 3 | 500,000 – 1,000,000 USDT | ≥ 8,000 USDT | 40% | 40% |
| Tier 4 | 1,000,000 – 3,000,000 USDT | ≥ 8,000 USDT | 50% | 50% |
| Tier 5 | 3,000,000 – 10,000,000 USDT | ≥ 8,000 USDT | 70% | 70% |
| Tier 6 | 10,000,000 – 1,000,000,000 USDT | ≥ 8,000 USDT | 100% | 100% |
Both criteria must be met to qualify for a higher tier. If only one condition is met, the lower tier is applied.
Notes:
- Caps are expressed as a percentage of the maximum allowed for the symbol and category.
- Tiers will be evaluated and updated once daily at 00:00 UTC.
- For the purpose of this calculation, “30D Major Symbol Volume (USDT)” includes both USDT-quoted and USD1-quoted trading volume, with USD1-quoted amounts converted into their USDT equivalent.
- Only the portion of trading fees paid with a user’s own capital will be counted toward the 30D Major Symbol Volume calculations.
Q: How are the caps applied?
A: The caps are applied as a percentage of the maximum allowed order size or open interest for the symbol. For example:
-
If a symbol has a max order cap of 100,000 USDT:
- Tier 1 users will be limited to placing a single order of up to 20,000 USDT.
- Tier 4 users will be limited to 50,000 USDT.
- Tier 6 users will be allowed the full 100,000 USDT.
Similarly, the maximum open interest (OI) a user can hold is also restricted based on their tier.
Q: What happens when a new symbol is listed?
A: For the first 72 hours after a new symbol is listed, all users can trade with 100% cap (no tiering restrictions). This allows for smoother initial trading while reducing the need for immediate tier checks.
After 72 hours, the tiering system will automatically apply.
Q: Will my tier change automatically?
A: Yes. The system continuously evaluates your 30-day trading volume and balance. If you meet the requirements for a higher tier, your caps will be automatically updated once daily at 00:00 UTC. Likewise, a drop in activity or balance may result in moving to a lower tier.
Q: Can my tier be upgraded?
A: Yes, to upgrade your tier:
- Increase your trading volume on Categories 1 - 3 symbols
- Maintain a higher average balance
Both conditions must be fulfilled during the same 30-day window.
Q: Is there any visual indicator when placing orders?
A: If your order exceeds your tier’s cap, you will see an error message prompting you to adjust your order size. The system will not allow orders or positions that exceed your cap.
